Pain
We are committed to helping our patients live pain free. We use orthopedic tests combined with acupuncture, massage and soft tissue release techniques to treat acute and chronic pain. We also examine other contributing factors to pain such as emotions, diet and lifestyle.
Pain Evaluation
Each new patient is given a conventional physical exam including standard orthopedic and neurological tests when needed. In the exam the doctor feels for the texture, tightness and movement of joints and soft tissue. We observe posture and gait to assess biomechanical stress.
Treatment Modalities for Chronic Pain
• Acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, auricular acupuncture and moxibustion
• Myofascial release
• Therapeutic exercises where applicable
• Cupping

• Herbal medicine, nutritional supplements to rebalance the body.

"One thing I have noticed is that while you have been treating my shoulder problem my energy
has improved. It is particularly noticeable at the gym where I am able to work out longer with less pain."

"I was referred to Dr. Berks for chronic lumbar pain following a disc replacement surgery. I can honestly say that Alex was able to help me more with acupuncture and myofascial release than physical therapy.
I was in too much pain for physical therapy. In fact, I was amazed the first time he put the needles in he didn’t even put them in the area that hurt and I got tremendous pain relief."
—J.S.
"I came to Alex for chronic shoulder pain from a rotator cuff tear and carpal tunnel pain. I had been to three other Doctors including a Physical Therapist and another Acupuncturist. Through Alex’s massage techniques he was able to restore flexibility to the shoulder and reduce pain like no other. After each massage session he performed acupuncture to further reduce pain and loosen the muscles. I really appreciate his help."
