About Alex Berks, L. Ac.

Board Certified Physical Oriental Medicine
Licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist since 1997

Alex earned his B.A. in Anthropology from the University of California at Santa Barbara (1987) and a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from Emperor's College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He is state and nationally licensed to practice Chinese Medicine Alex is board certified in Physical Oriental Medicine by the American Association of Oriental Medicine.

Alex has been in practice since 1997 with an emphasis on treating pain and health restoration. His focus is on functional endocrinology, digestive problems and adjunctive cancer support. He brings an enthusiasm and caring approach to his patients while he educates and balances the body.

Alex has been a staff acupuncturist at various orthopedic and pain management clinics. In addition to his practice, he has taught Nutrition, Practice Management, and Shiatsu and at the American University of Complimentary Medicine and is a clinic supervisor at Emperor’s College. Prior to his medical career he practiced bodywork and taught yoga for more than 10 years.

Alex has published articles on various applications of Chinese Medicine. He has also lectured to MD Ob/Gyn's on the scientific understanding of acupuncture and its role in obstetrics and gynecology. Alex spent five years as a Senior Herbalist at Elixir Tonics and Teas, advising clients on their health and herbal programs. He also helped research Elixir products and was interviewed on radio and television.

He is the father of two boys, Noah and Ethan.
